Win

You guys! Life is pretty awesome!

I don’t have a specific point, as such. I kinda just wanted to put it on the record that I had fun from the second it became August 19 to the very end of my party. I feel like I had some sort of crazy super extra long birthday.

The hangover was not quite so cool, but cricket training was fun.

I sorta missed not having Monday’s meeting, but the reason we didn’t is because it’s show time. That’s very cool.

Yesterday was awesome, but I was kinda mean to Stoive. I think he probably would have done the same thing though. That’s a lie; it’s the exact opposite of what he would have done. But I had a to-do list and got almost everything done! I was too sober to buy the PMP text book though. Also the weather. The weather was very nice. And warm.

I’m too easy. A Hindu monk was able to chat me up. Want to convince me to buy your book? Ask me if I’m in the army or the navy or a personal trainer, apparently. Still, it was fun, and I have a soft spot for monks, for secret and embarrassing reasons. I now have ‘Perfect Escape’ by Devamrita Swami and ‘Bhagavad Gita as it is’. I don’t think I’m in danger of becoming a Hindu
any time soon though, because I ate a cow for dinner. Rawr.

Mr. Monk person also didn’t believe I was from Sydney, because I was happy and smiling. And I am – nearly all of the time now. I actually don’t even care that we lost the cricket that much. So um, that’s pretty weird.

So despite it featuring more slaughter than is good for your health, yesterday was incredibly, incredibly awesome.

I got a cupcake; it was delicious.

I got many birthday messages, in a variety of mediums.

I got Breakout sort of working, in just a few hours before class. I discovered it was actually pretty fun to have something on my phone that I could just whip out and show off.

I got my horrible PMP homework out of the way.

I got sick of saying I got, just now. It seems a little crude.

Steve delivered a package for TRS. Fingers crossed. (Dudes, we need to toast that on Saturday!)

I had pre-lecture drinks in the Glasshouse before class. No one showed up at first because most people were still doing the homework. You can always count on Patrick to be prepared though, and he showed up bearing loot – a pirate hat and sword. If the hat had been but a little bigger, it would’ve been perfect. I wore it during class to celebrate.

Class was eh. It’s interesting, but effort. I feel like such a baby for thinking that, but it’s really true. After 5 semesters of barely requiring any intelligent thought, UTS has pulled some sort of diabolical bait and switch.

After class: the Bavarian! Friesengeist, Franziskaner and Friends. Actually, we didn’t have Friesengeist, but I liked that aliteration too much.  It was lots of fun, and a chance to celebrate with three people who can’t come to the main event. Did I mention fun?

And to get to the title of this post: James, Steve and Lizzie gave me three very cool presents.
A sneaky-diary – note paper masquerading as H. G. Wells’ The Invisible Man (how perfect is that?) .
Flight of the Conchords, which I’ve already had fun watching.
The Beatles: Rock Band (or at least the pre-order form) presented in the second greatest card I have ever seen or received in my life.

So, thanks :)

It’s that time of the year again. I amused myself by ticking off things. Last time I’ll brush my teeth as a 20 year old. Last time I’ll try to solve the cryptic crossword. Last homework: PMP. Last meal: Subway (Disappointing). First SMS as a 21 year old: made me smile.

It’s actually pretty crazy how much of the equivalent post from last year I could just copy paste in. Scary, even.
I’d really love to not repeat some of the subsequent posts though.

No one at cricket mentioned the weight loss, but that’s due to both the fact that I’ve actually only returned to where I was at the start of the last season, as well as there not being anyone from last season at training, just new guys and people who I’ve seen since the final anyway.
Losing weight was the race I mentioned in the last post, btw. I had it in my mind that since I was born in 1988 and also it’s about what I got down to last year, that 88kg would be a good weight to be by my birthday. I’m not there yet, but I have more muscle and feel better than I did last year, so it was still pretty win. The trick will be to keep it off this time.

Probably looking at socks again.

Well not exactly.

I’m drunk.
No, I was drunk. And then I hit that happy place which makes the drunkenness go away. I don’t want another drink though. No siree.

I am too conscious of the fact that I might say something to actually say something.

I will say that I was not actually looking forward to my party at first, and now I am.  It will combine two of my favourite things – beer and me – and most of my favourite people.
This is actually the fun bit. I think often that I have a particularly fine bunch of friends, and with a few exceptions they will all be there. I don’t particularly feel like conjuring up some emotive description of how this really makes me feel, so you’ll have to just accept that I think it’s pretty cool.

I am now in a race of sorts because there’s something I said I would try to do before my birthday and I’m not certain that I can do it.

blog over cos my kbard died :S

Sleeping in is fun

Lying in bed and daydreaming is better.

Yesterday was very, very fun. I finished sending out all* my invitations, and all day my phone was beeping to tell me I had another RSVP. Most of them were yes, even. Most of them also indicated a large degree of positiven feeling towards the creative aspect of the invites. I believe I achieved Win.

I had an assisted win in terms of clothes shopping. I can’t recall ever having been excited about new clothes before (with the exception of the couple of funny t-shirts I’ve ordered online).

I got some work done, even. Thumbnails are win.

At about six last night, I got a call from my friend Luke who’s visiting from Dubai. He’s been over there since the end of school, coming back about once a year. He was in a cafe about five minutes away with another good friend, so I went to hang out with them for a bit. He asked how I was, and I had to say I was excellent. He asked me to explain, and I did… so basically I realised that it’s pretty fun to be me right now. It was also fun to have not really spoken to him for a year, but still be comfortable and have a chat like he’d never left. Win.

I have the best friends. I spent the evening watching the cricket and some Top Gear, eating pizza and drinking pizza with three more friends. Billy Bowden was fail, but ohhh Stuart Clark! England were plundered, which was damned entertaining. Win.

Oh, and maybe the best bit was actually at the gym, when my friend asked me to do his 21st speech. Win. Actually, a joint speech because someone had already asked to do it. And that someone asked to do speeches for I think two other friends, but is going to leading a Christian youth event instead of coming to mine. Ok, I’m a little cut about that.
Also this is somewhat terrifying because – hello, it’s a speech.  It has to be awesome, and then I have to give it. I still don’t have a present for him, even.

*Actually, I have one left

I’m going to have fun this semester

So I’m procrastinating again, which is somewhat de rigueur

The thing I’m procrastinating on is fun, even.
Well, I have these images in my head of how it would turn out. They’re almost too good to ruin by trying to do them, but it’s pretty important.

I have decided to have fun this semester, and so I shall.
I kinda just realised that I am in my last damn semester. This is big. So I’m going to hang out with my friends and sleep in and I don’t know.
I had a good day. I got some good laughs. I sorta chickened out of something but didn’t really. I have nice friends. I’ll be doing some group work with people I haven’t really worked with before, so that’ll be fun. Oh, I have worked with Pat before. Lots! Hi Pat, if you’re still reading this.

It’s my best friend’s birthday in less than a week and I have no idea what I should get him. Presents are hard.
I was asked what I wanted tonight. I want everything and nothing.
Actually I want one thing. You can’t buy it, and I’m pretty sure time travel is required. So that’s, you know, an issue.
