I am so sick of having nothing to do at work I’m blogging about it.

And playing this game http://www.myfootballgames.co.uk/game/80/Baggio_s-Magical-Kicks.html

which I shouldn’t really do at work, but there you go.

I suppose I must be in Soccer mode.

I wonder whether there’ll be any fun moments this time. I still remember going over to Captain Redbeard’s house with the Irish WOM (not that he was a WOM then, not that I still think of it as a bad thing anyway) at 4am to watch Australia claim a brilliant draw against Croatia and see Graham Poll dish out three yellow cards to the same player.

I’m not sure what my excess data charge rate is, but I’m incurring it on my phone. I used up the whole gigabyte for the first time ever thanks to not getting network access quickly at the client site or at my Canberra pad.

Canberra is okay, but I’m so thoroughly sick of not doing anything. It’s been a problem in every single goddamn job I’ve had for a company of more than 3 people. I am very good. You are paying me money. (albeit ING and Optus did it indirectly…) Why are you content to just piss it away and make me sit in the corner doing crosswords and thinking of funny names for small software projects.

There’s a system at work called ICSE. I’m making ICSEICSEBaby.

I get a new bed tomorrow and a new room mate soon. I’m so, so keen.

I kinda wish I had a different Canberra room mate. We’re too alike. All the personality test things say that I’m introverted so my ideal partner is extroverted. Not convinced… but I know that when I’m an IQC (introverted quiet cynic) my ideal roommate shouldn’t be the same.

I AM RAMBLING.

What are you going to do about it?

If you still read this blog or have it in your RSS, email me. Can’t let the fans down.

So it’s actually very hard to write a blog and skype at the same time!

Seven months is hardly any time at all.

I saw Adam Hills in Melbourne. Not like a show, like on the street. I nearly went up to him, but what would I say? Dude, you helped me score? Hey Adam, I met (not really) my girlfriend at your show. Dear Mr. Hills, I saw you on May 1 and nearly four months later I was in a relationship.
It’s a funny story.

I saw Tripod in Melbourne too. In a show. They were excellent. I’d really like to see a show where they just play their songs though. I imagine it would be excellent.
Happily, everyone who came along to the show on my recommendation loved it. I have excellent taste, you know.

Apparently both my cricket teams (as in, I played about four games for each of them) lost their grand final. It does mean that in three seasons, I’ve had four teams in the grand final.
Not a very good success rate, admittedly. 1 win from 4. 1 from 2 in the games I actually played in.

In the end, it was probably the best season ever.

Probably the best year ever.

Sydney on Friday. Very keen. This month hasn’t been unpleasant by any means, but I’m ready to come home.

I amuse myself. Today is six of one thing. March 1st will be ten of the other (not really the other, I suppose). Holy Crap.
I overuse the phrase ‘pain, penury and strife’. The corollary to that is ‘ I enjoy Black Books’.

I guess, if I had to blog – and I will, because the alternative is work – I would say that my life continues to be unreservedly awesome.

We interrupt this blog because somebody also called tom saunders wants to follow me on twitter. I don’t think I shall. He looks a bit of a twat, with his head in a box.

It being past midnight now, I went an entire calendar day without seeing Elizabeth. She’s in Newcastle, you see. The last time I didn’t see her in a day … well, she was in Newcastle again, about six weeks ago. I’m a little surprised we* can tolerate each other’s** company so often.

(Okay. *she and **my)

Work is good, when I can be bothered to get stuck into it. Many projects, many balancing acts. It’d be nice to knock some over soon.

Sooooooo looking forward to my Port Douglas holiday. I sometimes wish I’d gone to Sweden, but IBM really stopped that.

Speaking of the big blue, I don’t really know how I feel about starting there. Exciting new opportunity, for sure, but not quite as much fun as what I’ve got right now.

We shall see.

You know Days? The big ones. Birthdays. Christmas Day. Boxing Day. Easter Sunday. They’re fun. December has many, including UTS results day and pivot day.

This is weird, blogging without angst. I would say that I can’t even remember what writing an angsty post is like, but since I decided to share the contents of my last protected post with its subject, I’ve been forced to relive it.
I’m unhappy with that sentence, but I will struggle on.
For those of you keeping score at home, trying to guess the content of protected posts, you receive five points for ‘Lizzie’. (Two points for ‘A Girl’, no points for ‘list of words that link words, groups or clauses’)

UTS Results day: resulted in no complications. I was pleased.

Regarding each subject:

TRS work was approximately a billion times more useful than doing BPITS

PMP provided less value than actually (semi/vaguely/barely) managing real project

Game Dev was not the best new thing I tried last semester

And yet, I probably would’ve been quite disappointed if I’d gotten a credit. Luckily, I scraped home in BPITS and had no worries for the other two. I finish my degree with a solitary credit, from first semester: a result of my apparent inability to communicate. I blog to banish that demon, and therefore hold myself to be (officially, pending graduation) pretty damn awesome.

Pivot Day: Poorly named, because the pivot in question actually referred to August 26, 10:30 PM rather than December 22, 12:15 AM.

The pivot in a situation is the most important thing which everything else is based on or arranged around.
Definition

I was teasing Lizzie about Pivot Day for a while – telling her of its occurrence but not its meaning. Worth it. As of Pivot Day (or maybe ‘Pivot Time’ is more applicable because it occurred at a precise instant in Time), I have been going out with my girlfriend for a longer time than I wanted to be calling her my girlfriend.
I’m funny, which I here use in the Elizabethan sense. (I’m also funny, in the widely-used ‘hilarious’ sense)

A thought that occurs from time to time is that I’ve learned so much about life and love this year, but to what end? Suggesting that I will get to apply those lessons and thus not repeat previous mistakes implies that my current relationship will end at some point. In the same way, I suppose, questions of religion and the after life do not interest me because they operate under the belief that my life must end.
I’ve already promised that neither of these things will occur.

I don’t even like thinking about it.

Christmas Day: it’s fun when the best present was already in your bed.

Boxing Day: ends with a happy surprise for someone, I hope.

A few years back my mother was using MSN and thought lol meant lots of love. So, lol@AdamHills leading to lol@xoxelizabeth. That is both nice and nerdy at the same time.

It’s been a good month.

This next month should be nice too. It contains pivot day. (I need a better name, probably)

I need to spend a lot of the month working though! Can’t really complain, when the pay is so good. I just have too many balls to juggle, sometimes. It’s handy to have help in these endeavours. There’s a dirty joke just begging to get out there.

Ricky Gervais’ The Invention of Lying was pretty good. Nice concept, with a poke at religion that amused me.
New Moon was hilarious.

I’m starting at [Three Letter Acronym] in March. I wonder if my letter helped. The first month of that will probably be quite a lot of fun. The rest? Who knows.

I am so very tired.

This has resulted in me being easily irritated today. Specifically, regarding the fact that I purchased some (unhealthy) products, but my brother just ate them without telling me. And I bought them with my money, and wanted to eat them during my break from making that money.

I got angry/annoyed. This is because I’m tired, and mildly irritated, and because I haven’t been angry in quite a long time. It didn’t last very long, I know some people who are quite nice to me.

AT THIS POINT MY POWER DIED

My laptop still had power, but then later on (with this blog finished and open in my browser still) it decided to freeze and make me restart it. Blog lost.

The whole point of the title and the numbered list was to make some mention of what happened exactly six months ago. This effect is somewhat lost by posting it the next day.
Regardless, some dates stick in the mind. Especially when they ultimately result in dates.
On May 1, I saw Adam Hills perform. That night has brightened my life to a degree I scarcely believe possible.
